Hailey M. Anick is an attorney in Meissner Tierney’s litigation practice group. She represents insurers and their insureds in various matters, including general liability and insurance coverage issues.

What was your first job?
Barista.

Do you have any hobbies?
I’m an avid political podcast listener. Some of my favorites are “The 538 Politics Podcast” and “The Run-Up.”

What is something on your bucket list?
Travel to Prague!

Why did you become an attorney?
Upon receiving my undergraduate degree, I had the choice between working on a campaign for the 2020 election or attending law school; I chose the latter!

What does a typical workday look like for you?
My day-to-day can look different depending on the cases I’m handling at any given time. That said, you can usually find me drafting a brief at some point each day.

Why did you choose your areas of practice?
I cannot say that I always pictured myself becoming an insurance coverage attorney. But I can say that once I worked on my first few insurance coverage cases, I knew that it felt right. A few of my mentors have said that they didn’t necessarily choose insurance coverage, but rather, it “fell into their laps.” I’d say that accurately describes my experience as well.

What is your biggest achievement, professional or personal?
Although my greatest professional achievement is graduating from law school, I think my greatest achievement of all is that I am a proud cat mom. I adopted Leo (a/k/a the “Mouser”) from the Waukesha County Humane Society in June 2023:

What has been the most impactful advice you have received about practicing law?
“Never stop asking the ‘dumb’ questions.”
