Attorney Scott Brunner Co-Authors Article Titled: “Crowdfunding: A New Federal and State Form of Securities Offering”
The State Bar of Wisconsin’s Inside Track Newsletter recently published an article co-authored by Meissner Tierney’s Scott Brunner, titled “Crowdfunding: A New Federal and State Form of Securities Offering,” which examines the new federal and state rules on equity crowdfunding.
Mr. Brunner discusses the Securities and Exchange Commission’s rules on equity crowdfunding that became effective on May 16, 2016, opening the door to a new federal form of unregistered securities offering. The federal scheme supplements the state-based securities crowdfunding scheme that Wisconsin adopted in 2014.
The article provides a brief overview of securities crowdfunding, the process of crowdfunding and its key players, and the monetary limits for investors and insurers. Investors and businesses interested in this new form of securities offering and other federal and state securities options should contact Mr. Brunner or another member of Meissner Tierney’s securities team. Scott can be reached at (414) 273-1300 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
